Elite Skill Animations
I didn't know if this was suggested already. Close if it was.
I would like to see elite skills given more praise to them. Elite skill animations. An example would be Earthshaker.
When you use the skill, your character jumps off the ground, comes down and hits the enemy. When the enemy is hit, they are knocked down, and a small crater is formed into the ground from the impact of Earthshaker. Also the screen shakes in a ever so slightly way.
This is PVE only.
Such elite spells, such as Word of Healing would give off a bright glow off the player, or monk who just used or was the target of the spell.
Anet of course could have fun with this, but is this even possible? It could add a different aspect to PVE, making it a little more desirable.
Gimme your opinions por favor.

Sounds a bit too cartoony like the Final Fantasy animations. But I really don't see them going to make specialized animations like that anyway.

Please, no... an aura while you use or activate it would be enough, like a golden circle around the normal effect, for example,e in death magic, making the spiked circle around the skull more shiny and green..
Other that that would be... exaggerated.

I like the concept, but not for GW. It would be nice to have elite skill animations stand out a bit more, but not as dramatic as the example provided in Opening Post.
I'd love for an animation to make the game feel more real/cinematic, but I would also hate to get bored or impatient with a redundantly over-exaggerated animation or, more importantly, hate for it to distract from game play.

I see issues with lag as well the big animations would kill lower level computers and 56k users.

Don't want this to be one of those kiddy action animes (I'm an anime fan myself, but I mean the really stupid animes kids watch) where the characters shout out their attacks and a montage of extremely flashy and garish proportions ensues.
Slight tweaks may be good though, like Mithran's golden circle idea.
Admit it. Everybody loves to show off their elite skills, especially to their noob friends or lower levels.

Like others have said, the graphics can just be tweaked in stead. i.e, for example an elite illusion spell (say ineptitude), they could make the icon (the one that floats above a casters head when they cast) more noticeable and unique to that single spell.
Otherwise, overdramatic exaggerations? no thanks

I like the idea but it'd be low on my list of things to get "fixed" / changed in the game.

The only thing you need to identify an elite with is the icon that says they're casting it...

I was thinking more of a large swift swing hitting the ground with fissures of yellow light and rocks fly up.

LoL anything could work, but I think having an elite skill be more recognizable, in PVE only, would be interesting. Just a fun little creation would be cool.

I would love just to see more attack animations in general. Not necessarily for elites, but for all. Not as flashy as OP, but just more of them. Final Thrust still slashes, after all.

I can't imagine how much lag 5 or more elite traps activated simultaneously would cause.
No to special effects.
